E-Day’s early access gave Premium-tier buyers up to five days with the game before the world-wide unlock. The window has closed — the game launched fully on October 6, 2026 — but this page records exactly how it worked, since it explains what Premium buyers got for the extra $30 and what Game Pass players needed to do to join early.

When did E-Day early access start and end?

Early access began October 1, 2026 and ran until the global launch on October 6, 2026 at 8 AM PT — up to five days of play. Pre-load went live September 29 on both Xbox and PC, so early-access players were playing at the first minute of the window.

Milestone Date (2026)
Gone gold announced Sep 17
Pre-load live (Xbox + PC) Sep 29
Early access opens Oct 1
Early access ends / global launch Oct 6, 8 AM PT
Versus Ranked ladder opens Oct 13

Who got early access?

Three groups:

  1. Premium Edition ($99.99) buyers — early access is the headline perk of the tier.
  2. Collector’s Edition ($299.99) buyers — the tier includes early access alongside the diorama and COG tags.
  3. Game Pass Ultimate members who bought the $30 Premium Upgrade — the base game was already covered by Game Pass day one; the Upgrade added the Premium perks, early access included.

The full edition math — what each tier actually contains — is in our editions comparison.

What did early-access players actually get?

The five days were the full game, not a demo or beta:

  • The complete campaign (Prologue + 5 Acts + Epilogue, 12–18 hours) — reviews that landed during the window, like PureXbox’s 10/10, were campaign-only because the multiplayer suites stayed locked.
  • Multiplayer stayed gated until launch day. Horde Siege and Versus Social opened with the full release on October 6; only the Ranked Versus ladder was staggered further, to October 13.
  • Progress carried over — everything earned in early access persisted into launch.

In other words: early access bought time with the campaign. Buyers who finished the story inside the window entered launch day free to farm collectibles and jump straight into Horde Siege.

What did the launch day unlock?

At 8 AM PT on October 6 the full multiplayer suite went live everywhere simultaneously — the 12-player, three-squad Horde Siege mode and 4v4 Versus Social with four modes (Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Demolition, and the new Crucible). Season 1 “Emergence” began the same day, running eight weeks. New players starting now are playing the same build early-access players ended on; our beginner tips is the fastest path into it.

FAQ

How many days of early access did E-Day have?

Up to five days: October 1–5, 2026, ending at the October 6 global launch.

Did Game Pass players get early access?

Only if they bought the $30 Premium Upgrade on top of Game Pass Ultimate — the Upgrade carried the same early-access window as the Premium Edition.

Did early-access progress carry over to launch?

Yes — campaign progress, collectibles, and unlocks from the October 1–5 window persisted into the full release.

Could early-access players play multiplayer?

No — Horde Siege and Versus were locked until the October 6 launch; only the campaign was playable early. Ranked Versus opened October 13 for everyone.
